Closed for Business? Keep Our State Parks & Wildlife Areas Open

You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the directions at the bottom.

Issue

Georgia's Department of Natural Resources Board has proposed budget cuts to a department that is already strapped. Your lands, air, and water are assets that drive tourism, support economic growth, improve public health, and provide wildlife habitat.

Background

Facing a difficult budget, state leaders are once again proposing drastic cuts to Georgia DNR. In the coming weeks, Governor Perdue will be deciding whether to shut down and padlock off up to 13 of our state's greatest treasures and severely cut the operating budget of the entirety of Georgia DNR. You can make a difference by contacting Governor Perdue and urging him to keep the gates to these wonderful assets open.

I urge you to oppose cuts to the Department of Natural Resources.

Dear Governor Perdue,

As Georgia works to address budget shortfalls, I urge you to oppose cuts to the Department of Natural Resources.

Valuable state parks and historic sites, expansive wildlife management areas, clean air, clean water, and a productive coast play a vital role in promoting the health and economic well-being of our state.

I urge you to take whatever steps are necessary to reject the proposed budget cuts to the Department of Natural Resources, and to take a more far-sighted view of using our natural assets to ensure a healthy, prosperous and environmentally sound Georgia.

Sincerely,

Your name and address here
